The Spanish Colonial Revival estate was sited and planned to seamlessly capture the breathtaking coastal and harbor views, and the strong visual axis to the Sunsets over the Palos Verdes peninsula from each of the owner’s main living areas. Our initial vision for the property led us to create a home that was ‘indigenous’ to the Southern California climate. We composed the elegant formal ‘Spanish’ Mediterranean home to capture the essence and styling one might find in Pasadena or Santa Barbara in the golden age, the floor plan conversely is a truly 21st century comfortable (primarily) single level coastal plan. All of the requirements for daily living – the master bedroom, secondary bedrooms, library, teen room, kitchen and family room and even the separately accessed private guest suite – are all located on the first level and there are informal entertainment space upstairs to enjoy the views. The home’s exterior is tastefully adorned with hand toweled stucco, rich wood detailing, hand wrought iron ornamentation, clay barrel tile roofing, and ornately detailed pre-cast concrete columns and corbels. The estate’s exterior courtyards and yards include a grand forecourt protected from the cool evening breezes by the homes walls. Complete with a large outdoor fireplace and traditional soothing fountain, this space is great for entertaining guests. The rear yard has a state of the art outdoor kitchen for sunset barbecues and dining under the stars.
